The primary objective was to design a personal aircraft vehicle capable of training new pilots for commercial flight. Criteria included designing an aircraft which was cost-effective to build, fly, and maintain while having characteristics of high efficiency and minimal carbon footprint. In regards to aircraft safety and certification, the Federal Aviation Administration certification requirement under FAR Part 23 had to be satisfied while demonstrating a superb combination of performance and aerodynamic characteristics.
